An SRTF Food Security Project Receives Polypropylene and Bread Packing Sacks in Northern Aleppo – Syrian Arab Republic

Turkey – Tuesday 27 December 2022 – today. SRTF received 300,000 polypropylene flour sacks, 150,000 polypropylene wheat sacks and 65.78 tonnes out of his 75.00 tonne bread sacks originally procured under the Food Security Project. “Complementary Project to Strengthen Food Security in Northern Aleppo Governorate – Phase VI”.

Polypropylene wheat sacks are used by farmers to pack the harvested wheat and mix it with the wheat provided by SRTF to allow it to accumulate sufficient quantities for bread production. A factory that will be distributed to bakeries established in previous stages of this project. In addition, the bread bags will be used to pack 1.2 kilograms of bread produced by the bakery, which will be sold to beneficiaries in the target areas.

The overall aim of this project is to ensure a sustainable supply of wheat and baking equipment in order to increase the availability of flour delivered to bakeries. This makes bread of better quality more affordable and more accessible to people. in the surrounding community.

With a budget of €8.4 million, the project will directly benefit 250,000 people monthly in eight locations in North Aleppo. This includes 18 months including 6 months for post-implementation monitoring and evaluation.
