Owners Matt Hallagan and Sherri Hallagan told the Journal Advocate:
Matt has had a long career in the grocery business. In his 1977 he started working at U-Save Foods under Jim Donelan and after it was sold he worked at Sixth Street Foods for a number of years before going to SunMart. In 2014, Mr. and Mrs. Hallagan purchased his Grocery Mart in Sterling at 419 N. Third Street and renamed it Family Food Market, and in 2017 he opened his current Family Food Market storefront at 217 S. Third Avenue. purchased.
Prior to joining Matt in the grocery business, he spent many years working in the financial industry, including at Johnson & Associates.
“We would like to thank all our customers in Stirling and the surrounding area over the past eight years,” said Matt.
Haragans has sold its grocery store to Ben and Kerri Dishman of Gering, Neb.This will be Dishmans’ fifth store.
“Ben and Kelly have been in the grocery business for many years and they will do a good job and provide a good service to the people of Stirling and the surrounding area,” Matt said.
The grocery store may be getting new owners, but don’t look for many other changes. all remain.
“It’s a big thing. People like our employees and employees like people. They got to know a lot of people,” Sherry said, adding that the employees were like, “You got We promised to continue to provide the same great customer service as we did with us. “
The Hallagan family is very grateful for the “great crew and the work they have done for us over the past eight years.”
As for their plans now that they no longer have a grocery store to run, it might be a bit premature to say they’re retiring.
